Más Ganas que Genes

El llevar una idea de la teoría a la práctica, es un ejercicio el cual se debe realizar con frecuencia en las artes visuales, y lo considero necesario, placentero y saludable.

Suele pasar que tienes tu propia teoría y cuando la llevas a la práctica, sale mal. Lo bueno de este resultado fallido, es que solamente pueden haber dos razones: la teoría estaba mal, o se cometió un error en la práctica, así que hay que modificar uno de los dos. Pero cuando te das cuenta que tu teoría estaba cerca de la realidad, es un sentimiento tan revelador, que te empuja a llevar tu teoría un poquito más lejos, y expandir tus propios límites. Un amigo me recordó ese decir, que para romper las reglas, hay que conocerlas primero, y es precisamente eso.

Como un niño que intenta montar la bicicleta sin rueditas, primero quita una, luego la otra, luego quiere manejarla sin manos, así que primero intenta con una mano; si logra soltarse de las dos, y su interés es suficiente, puede darle por hacer piruetas, y si su interés aun es suficiente, puede competir. Uno no nace artista, ingeniero o doctor, uno se hace esas cosas. Es un proceso de ensayo, error e interés. El talento es más ganas que genes.

Este ejercicio de llevar nuestras propias teorías a la práctica lo realizamos todo el tiempo: siempre estamos poniendo a prueba nuestra propia capacidad. Nuestros propias fronteras. Creo que es tan importante como saciar la sed. Hay otros ayá afuera que están en lo mismo, mejorando e incrementando sus capacidades constantemente, por lo tanto, sebe ser una especie de instinto de supervivencia. Pero esto es solamente una teoría mía. Habrá que ponerla a la práctica, no?

Mantenerse aprendiendo conceptos nuevos nos mantiene competitivos y el poner en práctica nuestras propias teorías, además de brindarnos confianza, nos crea, a veces sin esperarlo, un estilo propio. Mientras más trabajo, más me doy cuenta de ello.

El estilo no se debe buscar ni forzar. Creo que con el simple ejercicio de llevar nuestras propias teorías a la práctica, nuestro estilo aparece y nos brinda identidad. Pero escribiré de este tema luego.

Otro Estilo

Estos cuadros se diferencian de mis otras obras, por no usar material de referencia para crearlos (o no mucho, al menos) y que le doy un poquito de rienda suelta a la imaginación permitiéndome deformar a mi gusto. Por aquí empieza toda animación que hago, pero también me gusta la idea de crear un personaje para que él mísmo sea el producto final. Solo él/ella ahí sentado, parado, soñando y trepando.

De Izquierda a derecha: Yaritsbel, Underwer, Pillao y Duende.

Lo que me gusta de este estilo, es que el aspecto fotográfico de la imágen es más mío, y lo puedo moldear a mi gusto. Esto no sería posible sin la fase de observación, la cual ocurre cuando pinto realismo. La idea es que con la observación constante de la naturaleza, estas imágenes no-naturales, se vuelvan cada vez más creíbles: mundos y criaturas que solamente existan en la ventana del marco de la imágen. Splash - Finalista en Concurso

Splash fue escogida como finalista en el V Concurso de Artes Visuales Roberto Lewis 2009. La obra va a poder ser vista en una exhibición colectiva junto con 17 obras más. La fecha de esta exhibición está por confirmarse.
